With the meebo IM app for android you can chat with people on a lot of different messaging services. It supports all the important chat services except facebook (it used to before and creators say they're going to try to re-integrate it). AIM, MySpace, Google Talk, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber and ICQ are all supported. 

When you create an account at Meebo (which is free) your IM history will automatically be saved and you can access it from any computer. Really one of the best chat apps already, but would be even better if it re-integrated facebook chat.
