Don't know about you, but we love that sort of stuff, if only in games like these, where you can build offices and houses, infrastructure and skyscrapers like a benevolent god. 

My Country will let you build houses and develop industry, so the population grows and so does the workforce, which in turn creates profit. But you also have to manage your ecology (yes, it's a new century) and energy use, by building power stations and parks. And then there is the daunting task of creating an infrastructure. Create canals, bus translit lines, country roads and what not.
