You can forge alliances and fight missions together. Doing missions and battles gains you experience, so that you grow levels. And the higher the level, the better the buildings and units you can buy, which will in turn make you stronger in battle, so you can kick other peoples asses even better. (now is the time to say: "I love the smell of napalm in the morning")

It's not a fancy graphics game, if that's what you're expecting. You're simply told the outcome of the battle once you hit 'attack'. Also, since the game runs continuously you can also be attacked while you're not playing.
